EVERY YEAR…SOMETIMES TWICE A YEAR (THREE TIMES DURING THE PANDEMIC) WE MAKE OUR YEARLY VOYAGE TO PROVINCETOWN. A MAGICAL SEASIDE TOWN WITH A HISTORIC QUEER COMMUNITY THAT EMBRACES CREATIVITY. THIS YEAR WE WENT DURING CARNIVAL WEEK. SO MANY LOOKS AND SO MUCH FUN. THE THEME WAS MONSTERS, MYTHS AND LEGENDS. WE DRESSED UP IN NEON NEOPRENE FEATHERED MONSTERS AND CREATED A NEW LEGEND OF OUR OWN.

@WILLOWPILLQUEEN….one of if not THE FRONT RUNNER of Drag Race season 14 graces Brooklyn with a performance at @3DOLLARBILLBK with @THE1SAUCYSANTANA at WESTGAY 10 year reunion. This event was a one for the ages…..MATERIAL GWORLLLLLS!
@FRANKIESHARP pulled out all the stops here billing all of our favorites under one roof. Porn Star dancers, Drag Race Legends and the Queer Rap Star of the moment. It was like 2010 all over again. It’s no wonder this event was sold out and packed with a wonderful mix of personalities.

@SUNGAYBRUNCH is hands down the best daytime queer party in CDMX. Rotating its venues throughout the city from indoor spaces, rooftops, gardens spaces all enhancing the experience. We were able to attend two of these parties during our stay in CDMX in February. This one was at the closing of art week. Bringing in a diverse crowd of creatives from musicians, performers, curators, drag, craftspeople, jewelers, designers….artist of all disciplines. A MUST ATTEND…PLAN YOUR VISIT TO CDMX AROUND SUNDAYS!

BABYCLUB MX PT.1
Picture this. You’re 17…you’ve got your fake ID in hand, you look amazing (of course you do you’re a teen), you air kiss the door person and just as you step inside the club your favorite song starts to play….This is @BABYCLUBMEXICO
Hidden in plain sight on the corner of Cristobal Colon and Humboldt in an unassuming corner building is this little gem of a music venue. Walk up an oversized steel spiral stair case adorned with bright neon green and hot pink lights sits @BABYCLUBMEXICO. The music…GAY. The people….GAY. The venue…GAY. The. bartenders….VERY GAY. All in the best possible way. I mean for goodness sakes the dance floor is 4 feet off the ground on an oversized catwalk. Talk about wanting to be seen the kids here are ready to put on a show.
Bar tenders in underwear serve you easy drinks while a troop of amazing Drag talent strut the venue and mingle with the crowd in between performances. This large space is separated by chainlink fence partitions also adorned with…you guessed it: MORE NEON LIGHTS. Drag shows in between songs happen on the catwalk right between the dancing kids and the DJ booth.
The music? Everything from Rosalia to Fergie…. A hodgepodge of iconic Latin flavor mixed with American gay anthems.
SO MUCH FUN. Although I did leave around 3am to @DISCOFETISH.MX for some house music to end the night. where I ran into @MEDIOLIMON
Thursday night at discofetish.mx
Night ONE in CDMX and we find ourselves at @DISCOFETISH.MX at a sensible 1:49am. Located behind an unassuming facade, down a neon blue lit set of stairs (no handrail so hold onto the wall if you’re in heels) is the dance club @FUNK_CLUB
IF THERE IS A HOUSE HEAVEN ITS THIS….(even though the red neon lights might suggest otherwise). We arrived during @DJHELLOFFICIAL set and let me tell you the sound was like a crimson red velvet bass carpet had been rolled out for our stacked little platform shoes to dance upon.
As if the sights and sounds weren’t enough (they VERY VERY MUCH WERE) we met @GABO.PALENCIAA who does PR for @DISCOFETISH.MX and was gracious enough to give us a tour and make introductions. God I love Mexican hospitality….”mi casa es su casa” rules still apply at 3am in a dark dance basement.
So so so so so…….. much beauty! The people and personalities span across the spectrum all there for the love of house music. Later that night @CARLOS_VALDES_ graced us with another amazing set of musical joy with disco goddess @DEAN.THELEGS dancing and striking poses for the crowd.

Probably (if not absolutely) one of the best perks about living in New York City is how a seemingly low key night can turn into a 5am fiasco….without even trying. Take this late November day for instance. Started off with an early dinner at BUTTER before heading to Broadway to catch MOULIN ROGUE.
Too many casual cocktails later we end up at The Ritz for a drag competition co-hosted by @STASINYC where @ALEXTHEMEH69 stole the show with an AMAZING performance of a song that I unfortunately will never know because all I wrote down in the notes app on my iPhone is “blonde girl dad song @ritz”…..yikes! a literary masterpiece of a note.
Not knowing when to call it a night we head over to the brand spanking new QUEER CROWN JEWEL of Hell’s Kitchen, @FRANKIESHARP’S The Q to check out a set by the darling DJ @LUISFERNANDO.NYC. Dancing, drag queens, daddies, dogs that are actually go-go dancers…this place has everything…oh and D….lots, and lots, and lots of D.

You know you’re almost 40 when the coolest venue in Brooklyn is only a couple blocks away in the now perfectly gentrified neighborhood you moved into 10 years ago and you STILL have to consider whether to go out or not.
Back in my day there was no artisanal donut shop, vegan pastry shop, french wine shop, Tortilla “Project” Cafe, Indoor/Outdoor Taco restaurant …… let alone a cool gay bar. Today they’re all on a three block stretch. (FYI the tenant list goes on and on and gets progressively more Brooklyn…aka Conceptual Pet Supplies)
C’MON EVERYBODY is perhaps the perfect space. Not too big not to small and only a stone’s throw away from Pratt Institute which has been churning out queer artists since Patty Smith and Mapplethorpe. It’s the perfectly positioned and now has a series of weekly events and dance nights.
This party DISCOGRAPHY comes to us thanks to the dynamic duo that is @NICKYOTTAV and @JO.DISCO putting on amazing drag shows and DJ sets with an amazing repertoire of queer references from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s….
For this party the artist took turns performing amazing interpretations of DIVAS OF DANCE. Legends @JUNIORMINTT, @LA.ZAVALETA, @MERRIE_CHERRY all killing it on the gold tinsel stage.
